Welcome!  My name is Dr. Jackie Duffy-Hook.  I have been a social worker for more years than I will admit.  I have been a school social worker in Lockport for over 20 years. Social workers in Illinois must have a masters degree from an accredited college and a state license, while  school social workers must have the same masters degree and school licensure.  I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, licensed both professionally and educationally.  I earned my PhD in June 2018 from the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago after successfully defending my dissertation: Adolescent Siblings Living with Autism and their Friendships.

My major responsibility as a school social worker is to help students achieve their maximum academic benefit from the educational opportunities provided by our staff.  I do this by working with staff, students, and parents helping each better understand and meet the students’ social and emotional needs.

Each year I am also responsible for presenting child safety lessons in kindergarten and first grade. The Child Lures Prevention program is used. This program teaches the children: that they are each their own unique person; what safe and unsafe secrets are; who are strangers; what to do if a dangerous person tries to lure them away; sexual abuse prevention; and what instincts are.  When school is in-person (vs. remote), a parent orientation is offered during parent teacher conferences, however a recording has been made. (Please note: the parent orientation is for ADULTS only and it is 40 minutes long.) To view the parent orientation, please email me and I will send it to you.

If you ever have a question or concerns, I can be reached at Walsh 815-838-7858 ext. 4021 or my email [email protected].   I typically return phone messages within 24 hours however during COVID times if we are working remotely I can only return calls one day per week. Emails are the best way to reach me.
